Course Description

This course introduces the basic concepts and skills of mathematics for grade 2 students.

The course covers topics such as numbers up to 1000, addition and subtraction up to 3 digits, multiplication and division, and measurement of length and weight. The course also provides opportunities for students to practice and apply their mathematical thinking through word problems and review activities.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Read, write, and compare numbers up to 1000
  • Add and subtract numbers up to 3 digits using various strategies
  • Solve addition and subtraction word problems up to 3 digits
  • Understand and use regrouping in addition and subtraction
  • Understand and use the basic properties of multiplication and division
  • Recall and apply the multiplication tables of 2 and 3
  • Solve multiplication and division word problems by 2 and 3
  • Measure and compare the length and weight of objects using standard and non−standard units
  • Solve length and weight word problems using addition and subtraction

Course Assessment

The course assessment will consist of:

  • Quizzes: These are informal checks for understanding that will be done after each unit.
  • Reviews: These are formal evaluations that will be done at the end of the course.
