Course Description
This course introduces the basic concepts and skills of mathematics for grade 4 students.
The course covers topics such as decimals, fractions, multiplication, division, measures, symmetry, solid figures, tables, line graphs, and time. The course also provides opportunities for students to practice and apply their mathematical thinking through word problems and review activities.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Read, write, and compare decimals up to two decimal places
- Round decimals to the nearest whole number or tenth
- Convert between decimals and fractions with denominators of 10 or 100
- Compare decimals and fractions using symbols and models
- Add and subtract decimals up to two decimal places using various strategies
- Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of decimals
- Multiply and divide decimals by whole numbers or by powers of 10
- Solve word problems involving multiplication and division of decimals
- Measure and convert between different units of length, mass, and capacity
- Solve word problems involving measures and conversions
- Identify and draw lines of symmetry and symmetrical figures
- Identify and describe solid figures and their nets
- Interpret and create tables and line graphs using data
- Calculate elapsed time using a number line or a clock
