Course Description

This course introduces the basic concepts and skills of mathematics for grade 1 students.

The course covers topics such as comparing numbers, picture graphs, numbers up to 100, ways to multiply and divide, fractions, time, and money. The course also provides opportunities for students to practice and apply their mathematical thinking through word problems and review activities.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Compare numbers up to 100 and use the symbols <, >, and =
  • Interpret and create picture graphs using data
  • Count, read, and write numbers up to 40
  • Solve addition and subtraction word problems up to 40
  • Understand and use different strategies to multiply and divide
  • Identify and name halves and quarters of shapes and objects
  • Tell and write time to the hour and half hour
  • Recognize and count dollar coins and bills
  • Solve money word problems using addition and subtraction
