5 Ways to Help Your Student Prepare for Math Tests

As the end of the school year draws near, many students are preparing for end-of-the-year exams:

  • Chapter exams
  • District exams
  • Standardized testing

They may feel the pressure of getting their best scores. But how do they remember everything that they had learned throughout the year and how do they make the most of their time?

Here are 5 easy steps they can take.

  1. You want to make sure that they know the vocabulary. What do the words mean? What is an example of this word? What is not an example of this? Check out this blog post on helping students improve their vocabulary.
  2. Help them be able to go over the key topics and types of questions that they will be covering during this test.
  3. Help them determine their level of understanding in each of the topics.
  4. Create a plan to optimize their time and focus on their most important topics to master.
  5. Come up with a focus for each day they have time to study, stopping just a couple days before the test date.

“I get it” is just the beginning. Help them go beyond understanding towards mastery of every question that they touch. Don’t let them settle for good enough. Help them get a full understanding.

Then they’ll feel more confident during the test and be able to do their best.
